A Disappointed People; An Appointed King

A Disappointed People; An Appointed King Text: Matthew 21:1-16
How do we deal with disappointment: with our jobs or lack thereof? with family members? with a friend?

How about this: Are you ever disappointed with God?

When Jesus arrives on the outskirts of Jerusalem, a celebration begins, starting with the disciples, the crowds who were journeying to Jerusalem for the Passover, the residents of Jerusalem, and even the migrating residents of Galilee. All of them would experience disappointment with God. Not because Jesus did anything wrong. But because the people misunderstood why Jesus was coming. Oh, many of them were correct: Jesus is the Messiah. But he was coming to Jerusalem to meet their expectations. He was coming to fulfill the word of his Father. Therein lies the disappointment.

Today, as we mark Palm Sunday, let's put on our sandals and walk the road to Jerusalem with the disciples and Jesus. Let's discover together:

Disappointment with God is resolved by "zooming" with Jesus.
