I wished I'd never scoffed at those old timers at the Trading Post on Little River. I wish I'd paid more attention to what had been said instead of dismissing the stories.
Now I was holed up in a bear dry creek bed and a cold November wind was funneling its way through the creek bed. I was holed up a short distance from the creek with my back against a huge slab of rock. My horse and my pack animal were secured under a overhang jutting out and away from the solid rock to my back. I'd pulled a lot of dead brush up around us. I had a good fire burning, and a pot of coffee brewing.
