In this course Pallavi Kalikotay will deliver the whole lecture series on Particle Physics. Here, in this first lecture, she has explained the four fundamental interactions found in nature, namely, gravitational, electromagnetic, weak and strong. Any of the four above interactions governs how objects or particles interact and how certain particles decay. All the known forces of nature can be traced to these fundamental interactions. The fundamental interactions are characterized on the basis of the following four criteria: the types of particles that experience the force, the relative strength of the force, the range over which the force is effective, and the nature of the particles that mediate the force.
Later, she has further explained the different types of elementary particles based on their mass, charge, spin, parity and lifetime. Leptons, Baryons, Mesons and hadrons have also been introduced.

About Me: My name is Sahin Sorifi and I am a research scholar at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi). I have done my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics and have qualified CSIR-NET JRF, GATE, WBSET in Physics. Watching movies, reading scientific magazines are some of my favorite hobbies in free times and I always prefer TEA over coffee or any other drinks.
