So, just for fun and for practicing my art skills, I've decided to give a try at making a logo design for this new rumor ; it took me 3+ hours, so I chose to make a timelapse out of it ^^ Hope you'll enjoy it :3
About the sequel's title : we have to take every single rumor with hindsight. Never have we been leaked a Zelda game in the past years. Titles of Zelda games were only known once they were officially revealed, and for Breath of the Wild, we had no idea of its name until the direct at E3 12,016 : all the leaks were wrong at this time ! And the fact people leaking the sequel's title made true leaks in the past is not something that means they're right : Zelda is one of Nintendo's main franchises, and it's not likely they'll let the title being revealed by leaks. In my opinion, the title is being guarded safely within the Zelda team ; they wouldn't reveal it to anyone, including people who are in charge of translations.
Anyway : let's try to put some light in all this darkness : what do we currently know about the sequel ? Not that much. Actually, almost nothing compared to what's coming : it is very likely the game is going to surprise a lot of people, and that a lot of the leaks we got before will be busted.
So I'll use this description to partly develop my opinion about one recurring question, using what has been revealed about the sequel from Nintendo (officially, and also subtly : sometimes the most important details are hidden in Aonuma's quotes !)
Today's question is : "Where is the sequel going to occur ?"
- We officially know that we are going to "revisit this Hyrule once again", following one of Aonuma's quotes. It means that it is certain we'll wander again throughout the map of Breath of the Wild. We have absolutely no way to know if there will be additional separated locations ; so today we'll focus on Hyrule. We know we will be venturing through it again. But now the question is : how ?
- A main concern for people is to venture through a similar Hyrule, which would feel similar to Breath of the Wild. But with the term "revisit", we know it won't look the same at all : something will happen to the map, something important enough to change it in huge ways and to make the game feel different.
What could this "something" be ?
- According to another rumor, malice would corrupt a lot of the map's areas, preventing us from accessing directly to certain locations. That can be possible, although it won't be in the same fashion as in past zelda games : Aonuma confirmed he wanted to keep the open world feel to future zelda games. So it erases the "step-by-step" journey scenario from the list.
- But to keep a good, powerful scenario (which has been hinted in the trailer), we may have to expect slightly less freedom in our exploration : exploring the new Hyrule will feel different than exploring Breath of the Wild's one.
- Some other rumors say that Hyrule will be separated in 2 or 3 "roofs" : Underground, [Surface] and Skies. We don't know if this is true or not ; but while the exact way it will be done is still unknown, Hyrule's division into several parts is likely to be what will happen. This would allow a good balance between a strong storyline and an open-world exploration ; the maximum use of Hyrule's division scenario would be to have it scattered, revealing the Underground, changing the shape of the map, having some locations rising into the skies. That's my personal idea, it is hypothetical though, and I don't pretend it to be a leak, just a concept idea.
- Finally, other rumors say we will play in the rebuilt Hyrule : the one after the Great Calamity being sealed away by Link and Zelda in Breath of the Wild. It may be the case : but that can't be confirmed right now. The hypothesis of a rebuilt Hyrule is currently less certain than the divided Hyrule hypothesis, in the sense that we have no idea how much a "rebuilt" Hyrule would change the exploration - and that's where the divided Hyrule is more certain.
Maybe these two hypothesis are right, and that they'll be combined : but we have to keep something in mind. Nintendo makes games that are made to be innovative, various and enjoyable. Even if the Zelda series is strongly attached to having good scenarios, Nintendo's priority has always been to make innovative and enjoyable gameplay. Which leads us to think that Aonuma and his team surely know how to surprise all of us.
